Title: Suid Wrapper Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

A boundary condition error exists in suid wrapper (or 'su-wrapper.')

The wrapper is designed to have functionality similar to that of su(1), it is used to execute processes with substitute user and group IDs.

Because the su-wrapper program is installed setuid root, it may be possible for a local user to execute arbitrary code with those elevated privileges by overwriting a function return address with a pointer to attacker-supplied instructions, or 'shellcode.'

Affected Products:

  • kosch suid wrapper 1.1.1
