Title: Linux Kiss Server Multiple Format String Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Linux Kiss Server is a server for KiSS-enabled media players.
The application is prone to multiple format-string vulnerabilities because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input before including it in the format-specifier argument of a formatted-printing function. Specifically, these issues affect the 'log_message()' function in the 'lks.c' file and stem from incorrect uses of the 'fprintf()' function.
Attackers can exploit these issues by supplying a specially crafted command that includes format specifiers to the vulnerable application running in the foreground.
Successfully exploiting these issues may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the application. Failed exploit attempts will likely result in a denial of service.
These issues affect Linux Kiss Server 1.2; other versions may also be vulnerable.
