Title: Omnicron OmniHTTPD PHP Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
OmniHTTPD is a compact Windows based web server by Omnicron Technologies. OmniHTTPD has various features including multiple domain support, keep-alive connections, supports virtual IP and non-IP servers and supports PHP scripts.
A vulnerability exists in OmniHTTPD which could allow a user to cause a denial of service attack on a target host.
Submitting numerous requests for a PHP script, regardless whether it exists or not, could cause the target server's CPU utilization to spike to 100%.
Each time a request is made for a PHP script, OmniHTTPD invokes PHP.exe. Unfortunately, PHP.exe fails to allocate memory for numerous requests. Instead PHP.exe attempts to run each requested script, causing the consumption of CPU usage.
A restart of the server is required in order to gain normal functionality.
