Title: Spam Board Arbitrary File Upload Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Spam Board is a web-based forum application implemented in PHP.
Spam Board is prone to a vulnerability that lets an attacker upload and execute arbitrary script code in the context of the affected webserver process. The issue occurs because the application fails to sufficiently sanitize user-supplied input. Specifically, the application permits file uploads based on the extension, but does not check the contents of the file. The attacker can exploit this to upload an arbitrary PHP file by adding an additional extension (e.g. 'exploit.php.jpg').
Exploiting this issue could allow the attacker to upload and execute arbitrary script code in the context of the affected webserver process. This may help the attacker compromise the application; other attacks are possible.
This issue affects Spam Board 5.0RC5; other versions may also be vulnerable.
