Title: COWON America jetAudio ASX File Processing Remote Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
jetAudio is an integrated multimedia player for use on the Microsoft Windows operating system.
The application is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it to an insufficiently sized buffer while processing ASX, WAX, or WVX files. Handling crafted files containing a URI with overly long strings results in a stack-based buffer overflow.
Exploiting this issue allows attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of users running the affected application.
The following are vulnerable:
jetAudio 7.0.5 and 8.0.2
jetAudio Plus 7.1.9.4030
Other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- COWON America jetAudio Basic 7.0.3
- COWON America jetAudio Basic 8.0.2
- COWON America jetAudio Plus 7.1.9.4030
