Title: WaveNet IP 2400/2458 FTP Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
The WaveNet IP 2400 and 2458 are part of a series of wireless routers offered by Wireless, Inc. The routers ship with ftp, telnet, snmp, and www services to facilitate remote administration.
It has been reported that using a Nessus FTP probe on these devices will cause the service to crash, which may be indicative of a buffer overflow vulnerability.
The crash occurs when certain commands are argumented with large amounts of data. If it is the result of a buffer overflow, it may be exploitable. Attackers may also be able to use this to cause a denial of service attack.
Affected Products:
- Wireless Inc. WaveNet 2400 0.0.0
- Wireless Inc. WaveNet 2458 0.0.0
