Title: WaveNet IP 2400/2458 SNMP Backdoor Vulnerability
Severity: CRITICAL
Description:
The WaveNet IP 2400 and 2458 are part of a series of wireless routers offered by Wireless, Inc. The routers ship with ftp, telnet, snmp, and www services to facilitate remote administration.
It has been reported that Wavenet 2400 series devices ship with a default SNMP community string. This community is 'multipoint.com' and has read/write access. With a read/write community, an attacker may be able to set and view configuration settings in the device. It may be possible for attackers to, for example, insert an entry into the routing table.
This may permit attacks involving redirection of traffic, such as man in the middle attacks. It may also be possible to cause a denial of service by disabling traffic flow.
Affected Products:
- Wireless Inc. WaveNet 2400 0.0.0
- Wireless Inc. WaveNet 2458 0.0.0
