Title: Spytech SpyAnywhere Plaintext Password Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
SpyAnywhere is an application which allows a user to remotely control their system via a HTTP daemon listening on a user-defined port. SpyAnywhere is provided by Spytech.
A vulnerability exists in the authentication process of SpyAnywhere. Each login variable ('loginpass', 'redirect' and 'submit') is submitted as one whole variable. 'redirect' and 'submit' are predefined fields, and as such does not require the user to fill out those fields upon authentication. When a user attempts to authenticate, the login credentials are sent in plain text over the internet. Therefore, it is possible for a remote attacker to use packet capturing utilities to easily gain this information.
Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could assist in further attacks against the host, and possibly lead to the complete compromise of the target.
