Title: eEye Digital Security SecureIIS Overflow Protection Bypass Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
SecureIIS is an application firewall by eEye Digital Security. It is designed to protect a host using Microsoft IIS from numerous remote attacks such as, buffer overflows, directory traversals, format bugs, etc.
Often, web applications contain buffer overflow vulnerabilities related to the handling of fields in the HTTP header. An example of this is an unbounded copy of the user agent from an HTTP header into a local variable.
SecureIIS can be configured to detect and block requests that contain oversized (exceed a pre-configured length) fields in their HTTP headers.
It has been reported that SecureIIS fails to adequately block these requests.
As a result, it may be possible for remote attackers to successfully exploit any buffer overflow vulnerabilities related to HTTP fields which may exist in applications on the target server.
Affected Products:
- eEye Digital Security SecureIIS 1.0.2
- eEye Digital Security SecureIIS 1.0.3
