Title: Bitflu StorageFarabDb Module '.torrent' File Handling Security Bypass Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Bitflu is a BitTorrent client for Linux and BSD platforms.
Bitflu is prone to a security-bypass vulnerability. This issue affects the 'StorageFarabDb' module and arises when the application handles a malicious '.torrent' file.
Specifically, the application fails to restrict access and allows an attacker to supply a '.torrent' file that may append to or create a new file outside the working directory of Bitflu.
A successful exploit may allow remote attackers to corrupt files and/or place arbitrary files on the vulnerable computer, which may lead to other attacks.
Note that this issue doesn't allow attackers to overwrite existing files.
This issue affects versions prior to Bitflu 0.42.
Affected Products:
- Bitflu Bitflu 0.40
- Bitflu Bitflu 0.41
