Title: PeerCast HandshakeHTTP Multiple Buffer Overflow Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
PeerCast is a peer-to-peer (P2P) radio-streaming application implemented in C++.
The application is prone to multiple buffer-overflow vulnerabilities because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied data. These issues occur in the 'handShakeHTTP()' function of the 'servhs.cpp' source file. Specifically, the application fails to check the length of user-supplied data before copying it into the 'loginPassword' and the 'loginMount' buffers.
Successfully exploiting these issues will allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user running the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will likely crash the application.
These issues affect PeerCast 0.12.17, SVN 334 and prior versions.
