Title: wwwstats Clickstats.PHP Multiple HTML Injection Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

The 'wwwstats' program is a PHP-based tool for analyzing web traffic.

The application is prone to multiple HTML-injection vulnerabilities because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input before using it in dynamically generated content.

These issues affect the 'link' parameter and 'useragent' field of the 'clickstats.php' script.

Input will be stored persistently on the affected site and may be rendered by a victim when viewing a page that uses the data.

Attacker-supplied HTML and script code would execute in the context of the affected site, potentially allowing the attacker to steal cookie-based authentication credentials or to control how the site is rendered to the user; other attacks are also possible.

Versions prior to wwwstats 3.22 are vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • Arjan Topolovec wwwstats 3.21
