Title: Gadu-Gadu Skin Attribute Handling Remote Denial Of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Gadu-Gadu (Polish for 'chit-chat') is a Polish instant-messaging client.
The application is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability. The default registered protocol handler 'gg' fails to properly handle 'skin' attributes. The application needs to be installed, but not running, on a remote machine. When an unsuspecting user opens a specially crafted URI designed to leverage this issue, Gadu-Gadu fails to launch properly, causing denial-of-service conditions.
Remote attackers can exploit this issue to consume resources sufficient to crash the computer, denying service to legitimate users.
Gadu-Gadu 7.7 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
