Title: Absolute News Manager .NET Multiple Input Validation and Information Disclosure Vulnerabilities

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Absolute News Manager .NET is a content manager implemented in ASP.NET.

The application is prone to multiple remote vulnerabilities:

- Multiple cross-site scripting issues affect the 'rmore' parameter of the '/xlaabsolutenm.aspx' script and the 'template' parameter of the '/pages/default.aspx' script. An attacker can exploit these issues to execute arbitrary code within the context of the webserver process, steal cookie-based authentication credentials, and launch other attacks.

- Multiple SQL-injection issues affect the 'z', 'pz', 'ord' and 'sort' parameters of the '/xlaabsolutenm.aspx' script. A successful exploit may allow an attacker to compromise the application, access or modify data, or exploit latent vulnerabilities in the underlying database.

- Multiple directory-traversal issues affect the '/pages/default.aspx' script. Attackers can use directory-traversal strings ('../') to access arbitrary files in the context of the webserver. Attackers can obtain the contents of an '.aspx' file by adding a NULL-byte character ('%00') to the end of the filename. Attackers can exploit these issues to access potentially sensitive information in the context of the affected application. Information obtained may aid in further attacks.

These issues affect Absolute News Manager .NET 5.1; other versions may also be vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • XIGLA SOFTWARE Absolute News Manager .NET 5.1
