Title: Skype Technologies Skype Voicemail URI Handler Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Skype is a peer-to-peer communications software that supports internet-based voice communications.

Skype is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability because of a NULL-pointer dereference flaw.

This issue occurs when users follow a specially crafted 'skype:' link. Links of the form 'skype:?voicemail' will trigger a NULL-pointer dereference, crashing the application and denying service to legitimate users.

Skype 3.6.0.216 for Microsoft Windows is vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Skype Technologies Skype 3.6.0.216
