Title: PBLang NTopic.PHP Arbitrary File Upload Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

PBLang is a web-based forum application implemented in PHP.

PBLang is prone to a vulnerability that lets attackers upload arbitrary code and execute it in the context of the webserver process. The issue occurs because the software fails to adequately sanitize user-supplied input.

This issue affects the 'topicicon' parameter of the 'ntopic.php' script when it handles specially crafted filenames.

This vulnerability is compounded by the fact the 'fid' parameter of the 'ntopic.php' script fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input of directory-traversal strings ('../'). This allows the attacker to specify the location where the uploaded code is saved to. This may allow the attacker to overwrite files and to execute uploaded code in the context of the webserver process. This may facilitate a remote compromise of the vulnerable computer.

This issue affects PBLang 4.99.17.q; earlier versions may also be vulnerable.

Affected Products:

  • PBLang PBLang 4.0.0
  • PBLang PBLang 4.56.0(4.5 RC 2)
