Title: HPUX PCLToTIFF Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: LOW
Description:
HP-UX is the UNIX Variant Operating System distributed by Hewlett Packard. HP-UX is designed for operation on systems ranging from desktop servers to large enterprise systems.
A problem in the pcltotiff program makes it possible for users with local access to the system to deny service to legimate users of the system.
pcltotiff is a text formatting package, designed to convert documents written in Page Control Language (PCL) to Tagged Image File Format (TIFF). The pcltotiff program included with HP-UX does this, using SGID bin permissions to access typeface information in the /usr/lib/X11/fonts/ifo.st/typefaces/ directory.
Details on the flaw that makes it possible to deny service to legitimate users are currently unavailable.
Affected Products:
- HP HP-UX 10.0.01
- HP HP-UX 10.10.0
- HP HP-UX 10.20.0
- HP HP-UX 10.26.0
