Title: Apple Safari for Windows Document.Location.Hash Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Safari is a browser from Apple available for Mac OS X and Microsoft Windows.
Safari for Windows is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability. This issue is triggered when an attacker entices a victim to view a maliciously crafted webpage.
This issue occurs when the value of the 'document.location.hash' object is set with an overly long string.
NOTE: Reports indicate that this issue may actually occur when the object is subsequently called by the 'alert()' method, but this has not been verified.
Remote attackers may exploit this issue to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the affected application. Failed exploit attempts will result in denial-of-service conditions.
Affected Products:
- Apple Safari 3 Beta for Windows
- Apple Safari 3.0.1 Beta for Windows
- Apple Safari 3.0.2 Beta for Windows
- Apple Safari 3.0.3 Beta for Windows
