Description:
Viewpoint Media Player is a browser plugin for viewing various types of digitial media.
The application is prone to multiple stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerabilities because it fails to perform adequate boundary checks on user-supplied input.
Specifically, these issues occur when strings greater than 6999 characters are passed as arguments to methods of the 'AxMetaStream.dll' ActiveX control library. The following methods are affected:

Component()
ComponentClassID()
ComponentFileName()
ExtraProperty()
Properties()
RequiredVersions()

XMLText()
The ActiveX control is identified by CLSID: 03F998B2-0E00-11D3-A498-00104B6EB52E.
An attacker can exploit these issues to execute arbitrary code in the context of a user running the application. Failed attempts will likely result in denial-of-service conditions.
Viewpoint Media Player 3.2 is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.
