Title: iSCSI Enterprise Target IETD.CONF Local Information Disclosure Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

iSCSI Enterprise Target is an enterprise open-source iSCSI target implementation.

The application is prone to a local information-disclosure vulnerability because the '/etc/ietd.conf' file has incorrect permissions.

Specifically, the '/etc/ietd.conf' file permissions are set to 664 (-rw-rw-r--), which gives all users read access to the file. This may potentially disclose authentication credentials, because in most cases the file stores passwords.

Attackers can exploit this issue to obtain usernames and passwords as well as information about the configuration of the affected application.

This issue affects iSCSI Enterprise Target 0.4.15; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Debian Linux 4.0 alpha
  • Debian Linux 4.0 amd64
