Title: CDE dtsession Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Description:
dtsession is an XSMP-compliant session manager bundled with Sun's CDE (Common Desktop Environment). CDE runs on a variety of UNIX workstation platforms, including Sun Solaris, HP-UX, IBM AIX and Compaq Tru64.
CDE utilities use the LANG environment variable to build paths to resources specific to the current user's preferred language. en, for English, is an example of a valid LANG value.
dtsession can not handle long LANG strings. It stores the unchecked value of LANG in a fixed buffer, and is therefore susceptible to a buffer overflow attack.
Because dtsession is setuid root, a successful buffer overflow attack will yield root privileges to an attacker.
Solaris (x86 and Sparc) versions 2.6, 7 and 8 are known to be vulnerable.
