Title: Lotus Domino R5 Server DIIOP DoS Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Lotus Domino is a multiplatform web server which integrates messaging and various interactive web applications.

DIIOP enables various programs to communicate with Lotus Domino over the internet. When a client request is made, a session is started with the DIIOP protocol. DIIOP listens on TCP port 63148.

A remote attacker could carry out a denial of service attack on a host running Lotus Domino Server. A connection request to port 63148, composed of 10k of data, will establish a DIIOP session. Each such request made will launch a new DIIOP session. By continually submitting requests, an attacker can cause CPU utilization to reach 100% on the target host.

A restart of the service is required in order to gain normal functionality.

Affected Products:

  • Lotus Domino 5.0.1
  • Lotus Domino 5.0.2
  • Lotus Domino 5.0.3
  • Lotus Domino 5.0.4
  • Lotus Domino 5.0.5
  • Lotus Domino 5.0.6
