Title: Adobe PageMaker MAIPM6.dll Long Font Name Buffer Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Adobe PageMaker is a desktop publishing application.
The application is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer.
Specifically, a buffer overflow occurs in the application when a specially crafted PageMaker file containing an overly long font name is opened. The font name is copied into a fixed-length stack buffer in the file 'MAIPM6.dll'.
Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the application. Failed exploit attempts will likely crash applications, denying service to legitimate users.
This issue affects PageMaker 7.0.1 and 7.0.2; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- Adobe Pagemaker 7.0.1
- Adobe Pagemaker 7.0.2
