Title: rPath rMake Local Privilege Escalation Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
rPath Linux is a specialized GNU/Linux distribution for enterprise users.
rPath rMake is prone to a local privilege-escalation vulnerability that stems from a design error. This vulnerability occurs because the application creates a '/dev/zero' device file with incorrect device number and file permissions.
The design error grants all users read and write permissions to the device file. This in turn enables unprivileged users to execute arbitrary code with superuser privileges and may facilitate a complete compromise of affected computers.
This vulnerability affects rMake 1.0.11; other versions may also be affected.
Affected Products:
- rPath rMake 1.0.11
- rPath rPath Linux 1
