Title: IBM Websphere/Net.Commerce CGI-BIN Macro Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Net.Commerce is part of the Websphere platform of products distributed by IBM. Net.Commerce provides several versatile features to facilitate e-commerce, and features in performance and reliability.

Net.Commerce includes numerous CGIs as part of the frontend of the e-commerce infrastructure. macro.d2w is part of the CGI package included with Net.Commerce.

Insufficient handling of input to the macro.d2w script creates a situation of instability within the Websphere server. Upon the receipt of a long string of "%0a" characters, the Websphere server ceases operation, needing to be restarted either manually or by a watchdog process to resume normal operation.

The script is normally directly addressable via the http://host/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ExecMacro/macro.d2w/ directory.
