Title: Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise Remote Command Execution Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise is an integrated communications suite that includes a Unified Maintenance Tool and other unified messaging and personal assistant applications.
The Unified Maintenance Tool included in Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise is prone to a remote command-execution vulnerability because it fails to adequately sanitize user-supplied data.
Specifically, the software fails to properly sanitize data passed through the 'user' parameter of the '/cgi-bin/masterCGI' page before passing it to the shell to be included in a 'ping' command. By including shell metacharacters, an attacker may be able to run arbitrary shell commands.
Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary commands with the privileges of the 'httpd' user. Successful attacks may facilitate a compromise of the application and underlying webserver; other attacks are also possible.
Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise R7.1 and prior versions are vulnerable to this issue.
