Title: Kaspersky Anti-Spam Insecure File Permissions Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Kaspersky Anti-Spam is a mail filter designed to identify and process spam.

Kaspersky Anti-Spam is prone to an insecure-file-permissions vulnerability because the application incorrectly sets the permissions for certain files after the product has been updated. Specifically, the application wrongly sets the permissions for files of application components if they were updated using a package of modified application files from previous product versions.

As a result, a local attacker can gain unauthorized access to certain files, which may lead to other attacks.

Few technical details are currently available. We will update this BID as more information emerges.

Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0 MP1 prior to Critical Fix 2 (3.0.278.4) are vulnerable to this issue.

Affected Products:

  • Kaspersky Anti-Spam 3.0.MP1 CF1 (3.0.274.0)
