Title: Panda Antivirus EXE File Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Severity: CRITICAL

Description:

Panda Antivirus is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied input before copying it to an insufficiently sized memory buffer.

Specifically, this issue presents itself when the application attempts to scan specially crafted EXE files. An integer overflow causes a buffer to be overrun with attacker-supplied data.

Successful exploits may result in arbitrary code execution with SYSTEM-level privileges. This facilitates the complete remote compromise of affected computers.

Versions of Panda Antivirus prior to 20 July 2007 are vulnerable to this issue.

Affected Products:

  • Panda Antivirus
