Title: FTPFS mount Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

FTPFS is a Linux kernel module allowing users to mount remote files from any standard FTP server as a local filesystem.

A version of FTPFS is vulnerable to a buffer overflow leading to a denial of service, and potentially execution of arbitrary code.

By supplying excess input to the 'user' argument of a 'mount' command with type set to ftpfs, it is possible for user-supplied data to be executed at the kernel level.

Affected Products:

  • FTPFS FTPFS 0.1.1k2.2
  • FTPFS FTPFS 0.1.1k2.4
  • FTPFS FTPFS 0.2.1k2.4
  • FTPFS FTPFS 0.2.2k2.4
