Title: Alt-N WorldClient 2.2.2 DOS-Device Denial of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Alt-N MDaemon Server is an SMTP/POP3/IMAP4 email server. It comes with a web-based email client (WorldClient) that can be used to access email services via HTTP. Versions of WorldClient prior to 2.2.2 (included with MDaemon 3.5.4) for Windows NT/2000 are vulnerable to a denial of service. This denial of service results from an inability to process legacy DOS Device names, for example "PRN," "COM1" or "AUX". By default, WorldClient services reside on ports 3000 and 3001. Both of these are affected by this vulnerability. To cause this an attacker must make an HTTP request similar to the following: http://www.mdaemonhost:3000/aux
Affected Products:
- Alt-N MDaemon 3.5.4
- Alt-N WorldClient 2.2.2
