Title: Retired: SlackRoll Malicious Package Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

SlackRoll is an upgrade and package manager for Slackware Linux.

SlackRoll is prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability because the application allows malicious packages to end up in the package cache in certain cases. Specifically, if a malicious package and the signature is downloaded to the package cache so that the signature is verified yet the package isn't verified, the affected application will accept the malicious package. When the application upgrades the operating system, SlackRoll will terminate.

An attacker can exploit this issue to crash the affected application, denying service to legitimate users.

This issue affects versions prior to SlackRoll 10.

Further analysis reveals that this issue is not exploitable; therefore, this BID is being retired.
