Title: Avaya 4602SW SIP Phone Cnonce Parameter Authentication Spoofing Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Avaya 4602SW SIP Phone and SIP call server are a VoIP solutions for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The software is prone to an authentication-spoofing vulnerability.

The same 'cnonce' used during MD5 digest authentication is used for communication with the SIP call server for the lifetime of the relationship; this allows an attacker to hijack communications by way of a man-in-the-middle attack.

If successful, an attacker can impersonate a SIP call server, compromising the confidentiality of a victim's phone conversations.

Affected Products:

  • Avaya 4602 SW IP Phone (Model 4602D02A)
