Title: Netscape Collabra Memory Leak DoS Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
Collabra is a discussion server from Netscape.
A version of Collabra is vulnerable to a resource consumption attack.
The server waits for connection requests on several TCP ports (119, 5238, 5239 and 20749).
An attacker sending excessive input (> 5kB) to port 5238 will cause the server to allocate ~5kB of memory, which the server subsequently fails to free. Multiple attacks of this type result in resource consumption which can eventually exhaust the server's available memory resources, potentially impacting the Collabra server process and other applications running on the affected host.
Affected Products:
- Netscape Collabra Server 3.5.4
