Title: 602Pro Lan Suite 2003 Remote Email Message Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

602Pro Lan Suite 2003 is server application that provides email, proxy server, antivirus, antispam, and firewall functions.

The application is prone to a remote buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying into an insufficiently sized memory buffer.

Specifically, this issue stems from a flaw in the 'smtpdll.dll' library in the SMTP service and may cause a stack-based buffer overflow when email messages contain address field data that exceeds 260 bytes.

Successfully exploiting this issue may allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the vulnerable application; failed exploit attempts will likely crash the application. This may facilitate the remote compromise of affected computers.

602Pro Lan Suite 2003 is affected by this issue. The vendor has purportedly stated that they will not be releasing a patch but instead encourage customers to upgrade.

Affected Products:

  • 602 Software 602 Pro Lan Suite 2003
