Title: Clam AntiVirus ClamAV RAR Handling Remote Denial Of Service Vulnerability
Severity: MODERATE
Description:
ClamAV is an antivirus application for Microsoft Windows and UNIX-like operating systems.
ClamAV is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability. The problem occurs when handling malicious RAR archives. Specifically, a specially malformed RAR archive can cause a heap-based memory corruption. Although attackers cannot exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code, they can cause a core dump that will crash the affected service, causing denial-of-service conditions.
