Title: Sapio WebReflex GET Denial Of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

WebReflex is a software package designed to operate a HTTP server off a cdrom, providing web hosting on Microsoft Windows systems. This webserver is intended for use on such systems as Windows 95 and Windows 98. It is written and maintained by Sapio Design Ltd.

A problem exists in the software which could result in a denial of service attack against local resources. The problem is associated with the parsing of the GET option when a page is requested from the HTTP server.

Upon receiving a GET request for a file with an excessively long name, the HTTP server becomes unstable. This problem causes a general protection fault system module KRNL386.EXE. The service ceases operation, thus denying service to legitimate users of web resources.

Affected Products:

  • Sapio Design Ltd. WebReflex 1.55.0
