Title: Acoustica MP3 CD Burner PlayList Files Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

Acoustica MP3 CD Burner is an application that allows users to edit and burn MP3s onto CDs. The application is available for Microsoft Windows.

Acoustica MP3 CD Burner is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized buffer. This issue occurs when handling specially crafted '.asx' or 'm3u' playlist files.

Successfully exploiting this issue allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the affected user. Failed exploit attempts likely result in application crashes.

Affected Products:

  • Acoustica MP3 CD Burner 4.32
  • Acoustica MP3 CD Burner 4.51
