Title: Netscape Web Publisher Arbitrary Remote File Disclosure Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

An information disclosure vulnerability exists in certain configurations of Netscape Web Publisher, a component of Netscape Enterprise Server 3.51 (and potentially others).

Affected installations of Publisher are susceptible to user misconfiguration of Enterprise Server's Access Control Lists.

As a result, it is possible for a malicious remote user to read arbitrary files on the webserver including those outside the website's normal directory structure.

This information, which could include sensitive files such as .htaccess and .htpasswd could permit an attacker to further compromise the host's security.

Affected Products:

  • Netscape Enterprise Server 3.51.0
