Title: BiblioWeb Server Directory Traversal Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

BiblioWeb is a bibliography-building tool and webserver from Biblioscape.

Version 2.0 of BiblioWeb Server is vulnerable to directory traversal attacks.

Through the use of "\...\" sequences in an HTTP request, a specially-crafted URL submitted to the webserver can permit a remote attacker to acquire access to known files outside of the web root, and to read them with the privilege level of the user running BiblioWeb.

By exploiting files containing sensitive information, (ie, /etc/passwd) an attacker could exploit other vulnerabilities and further compromise the host system.

Affected Products:

  • BiblioScape BiblioWeb Server 2.0.0
