Title: Xmail CTRLServer Remote Arbitrary Commands Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
CTRLServer is an administration component of XMail which may be vulnerable to a remote buffer overflow attack.
Versions of CTRLServer prior to 0.68 fail to properly user-supplied input. Excessive input supplied by a remote user is copied to the 256-byte input buffer 'szDomain' and passed to the cfgfileget() command without bounds checking.
As a result, the excessive data copied onto the stack can overwrite critical parts of the stack frame such as the calling functions' return address. Since this data is supplied by the user it can be a crafted so that alter the program's flow of execution. If properly exploited, this can yield root privilege to the attacker.
