Description:
TopSites is a script that manages a list of popular websites; it is written in PHP.
The application is prone to a directory-traversal vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. Specifically, it fails to sanitize input to the 'modify' parameter of 'admin/index.php'.
An attacker can exploit this vulnerability to retrieve arbitrary files from the vulnerable system in the context of the webserver process. Information obtained may aid in further attacks. The attacker may also be able to modify the specified script, but this has not been confirmed.
To exploit this issue, the attacker must have administrative access to the vulnerable application.
This issue affects TopSites 3; other versions may also be vulnerable.
