Title: NaviCopa Web Server GET Request Buffer Overflow Vulnerability

Severity: HIGH

Description:

NaviCOPA Web Server is a commercially available webserver application for Microsoft Windows operating systems.

The application is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to adequately bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it to an insufficiently sized buffer.

The issue occurs when the application processes GET requests to the 'cgi' or the 'cgi-bin' directory. The requests will contain excessive data.

Attackers can exploit this issue to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the application. Successful attacks will result in the compromise of the application. Failed attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.

Version 2.01 is vulnerable; prior versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • Intervations NaviCOPA Web Server 2.01
