Title: DProxy Stack-Based Buffer-Overflow Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Dproxy is a small, freely available caching DNS server.
The application is prone to a stack-based buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly check boundaries on user-supplied data before copying it to an insufficiently sized buffer. The issue occurs prior to authentication.
Specifically, when the application receives UDP packets that are larger than 2048 bytes, a stack-based buffer will be overrun with attacker-supplied data.
An attacker could exploit this issue to cause denial-of-service conditions or to execute arbitrary machine code in the context of the affected service.
