Title: 0IRC IRC Client Null Pointer Dereference Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

0irc is a small IRC client for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

The application is prone to a remote denial-of-service vulnerability.

The issue arises when the client handles excessive string data. Specifically, this issue is triggered when affected clients receive messages containing excessively long content of approximately 623 bytes. When the 0irc client application attempts to process this data, a NULL dereference will occur, ultimately crashing the affected application.

By exploiting this issue, a remote attacker may cause an affected client to crash.

0irc version 1345 build 20060823 is vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be affected.

Affected Products:

  • dev0.de 0irc 1345 build 20060823
