Title: NETXAutomation NETXEIB OPC Server Multiple Arbitrary Code Execution Vulnerabilities
Severity: HIGH
Description:
NETxEIB is an OLE process server (OPC) available for Microsoft Windows.
The application is prone to multiple vulnerabilities that will allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on an affected computer.
Specifically, these vulnerabilities reside in the OLE for Process Control (OPC) server because it fails to properly validate server handles. The following OPC Data Access Interface methods are vulnerable:
IOPCSyncIO::Read
IOPCSyncIO::Write
IOPCServer::AddGroup
IOPCServer::RemoveGroup
IOPCCommon::SetClientName
IOPCGroupStateMgt::CloneGroup
Attackers may exploit these issues by crafting malicious OPC handles to exploit each of the methods listed above.
Successful exploits will allow attacker-supplied arbitrary code to run within the context of the affected server. Failed exploit attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.
Affected Products:
- NETxAutomation NETxEIB 3.0
