Title: Computer Associates BrightStor ARCServe BackUp Tape Engine Remote Code Execution Vulnerability

Computer Associates BrightStor ARCserve Backup products provide backup and restore protection for Windows, NetWare, Linux, and UNIX servers as well as Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, UNIX, AS/400, and VMS clients.
BrightStor ARCServe BackUp is prone to a remote code-execution vulnerability due to a design error in the Tape Engine service. This issue affects the handling of RPC requests over TCP port 6502, which the service listens on by default.
Specifically, user-supplied data contained in RPC requests is called directly by the handler routine for RPC opnum '0xBF'. An attacker can leverage this issue to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM-level privileges.
A successful attack can result in the complete compromise of affected computers. Failed attempts will likely cause denial-of-service conditions.
Note that only applications on the Windows operating system are affected.
