QuickCam VC device driver for Linux is a device driver for web cameras available for UNIX, Linux, and other UNIX-like operating system.
QuickCam VC device driver for Linux is prone to a buffer-overflow vulnerability because it fails to properly bounds-check user-supplied data before copying it into an insufficiently sized memory buffer.
Specifically, the vulnerability resides in the ' qcamvc_video_init()' function when initializing web cameras.
Exploiting this issue allows attackers to execute arbitrary machine code with privileges of the currently logged-in user. Failed exploit attempts will likely crash the application, resulting in denial-of-service conditions.
This issue affects version 1.0.9 and prior.
