Title: Cacti CMD.PHP Remote Command Execution Vulnerability
Severity: HIGH
Description:
Cacti is a complete front end to RRDTool. It is implemented in PHP and employs an SQL back-end database.
Cacti is prone to a remote command-execution vulnerability because it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input. Specifically, it fails to properly sanitize user-supplied data to the 'cmd.php' script before using it in SQL queries. The results of these queries are used as shell commands in subsequent routines. An attacker can exploit this issue by manipulating SQL query logic to execute arbitrary shell commands in the context of the server.
A successful exploit could facilitate the compromise of an affected computer; other attacks are also possible.
Cacti 0.8.6i and prior versions are reportedly affected.
