Title: RealNetworks RealPlayer ActiveX Control Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

RealNetworks RealPlayer is prone to a denial-of-service vulnerability.

The ActiveX control with a CLSID of {405DE7C0-E7DD-11D2-92C5-00C0F01F77C1} from the 'rpau3260.dll' library is prone to a denial-of-service issue. Specifically, when the 'Initialize' method of this control is called with arguments of 'AA' and 'defaultV', this issue will be triggered. Once the vulnerability is triggered, Internet Explorer may need to be closed to cause the crash, but this has not been confirmed.

An attacker can exploit this issue to trigger denial-of-service conditions in Internet Explorer or other applications that use the vulnerable ActiveX control.

RealPlayer version 10.5 is vulnerable to this issue; other versions may also be affected.
