Title: Tiny WinRoute Pro Memory Protection Disabling Vulnerability

Severity: MODERATE

Description:

Tiny WinRoute Pro is a firewall and internet router which enables networked machines to access the internet through a single connection.

By default, during install of Winroute Pro the installer disables the Kernel Mode Write Protection within a Windows 2000 environment. Disabling this feature will allow intended interference with various system operations and permit unsolicited write operations.

The Write Protection feature is enabled by default in W2k, but WinRoute will not perform if memory write protection is enabled.

Affected Products:

  • Tiny WinRoute 4.1.0
